School Daze

New classes, new pens
Old teachers, old books
Jockeying for position
Defying the dirty looks

"Not good enough" or "too good"
The cliques do abound
Jocks, band, rebels, nerds
The labels go round and round

Finding a locker
Figuring out the lock
Finding the bathrooms :
Where the gaggles all flock

Where is English class?
Where is the gym?
Where is biology lab?
The thought of dissection, grim

So lunch time comes
The cafeteria is small
What is on my plate
I don't recognize at all

Now History, which I like
Then Government, not so much
Math, eh, meh, ok
with calculations and such

Ending the day with study hall
A blessing, that I swear
Getting homework done at school
Going home without a care.
