“This isn’t going to be easy.”

“Nothing easy is worth anything.”

“Oh really, how about sunshine, that’s easy.”

“Also totally unpredictable, out of your control. Too little and things die, too much they fry.”

“Fine, how about air?”

“Good when good, bad when polluted, bad when pollen is in season, bad when the wind gets strong...”

“What is your deal?”

“I’m just saying, nothing easy is worth anything.”

“Is this another lesson Gramps?”

“Another? I don’t do lessons. I just tell it like it is.”

“Right, but you tell me ‘like it is’ every day.”

“Just like my Grandpappy used to do with me.”

“How come I never hear you telling Mom how it is,”?

“Well now, one of the things my Grandpappy always said was, men and woman don’t think alike. That was a lesson I learned was true pretty early, my first girlfriend in fact. She got so angry she hasn’t spoken to me in fifty three years...”

“Fifty three years? How old were you?”

“Same as you Teddy, thirteen.”

“Well, how do you know she’s still not talking to you?”

“You ever hear Jane Barret next door talk to me?”

“You’re kidding! Mrs. Barret was your first girlfriend?”

“She was a cutie.”

“Good gravy! Crabby Mrs. Barret could have been my grandmother?”

“If I had learned that lesson earlier...”

“Lesson?”

“Nothing easy is worth anything.”

“How does that pertain to Mrs. Barret?”

“Before I tried to tell her what to do, she was pretty easy...”

“Grandpa!!!”

“Sorry, it was some nice memory though!”

“I need to barf...”

“And afterwards, how about I show you how to fix that leak properly.”

“Now that’s a deal. Kinda glad it didn’t work out for you with Mrs. Barrett.”

“Me too, now that I’ve seen her grown-up!”

The leak got fixed.
