Suzie doesn't want money from the tooth fairy.
“Love you buckets, kiddo.”

“Goodnight, Daddy.” Suzie smiled sweetly but her plan didn’t include sleeping. She wanted more pixie dust.

Suzie double checked under her pillow. She’d managed five teeth this time! Business was booming.

Adelina appeared a little past midnight, her beautiful wings filled the room with a soft glow, and her voice vibrated even more softly:

“The Suzie store is my favorite stop.
Quality calcium, free of rot.
For this, I eagerly bring rewards.
Bottles of dust, freshly stored.”

Suzie clapped. “Look! Only one with a cavity!”

Adelina’s smile created an intoxicating effect. She collected her treasures greedily, and with a wave of her hand, tiny bottles of pixie dust appeared in Suzie’s palm. She squealed with glee; the dust always gave her the feeling of flight.

Everyone in the first grade thought Suzie was weird. She’d do about anything to buy your tooth if you lost one. She passed out toothpaste to her classmates because “quality teeth were more desirable.” Rumors ranged from mild to outrageous, but Suzie paid well.

Suddenly, an uneasiness filled the room. Adelina searched frantically for a place to hide.

Suzie gasped. Another fairy Suzie had never seen before perched on Suzie’s headboard. He quickly captured Adelina in an unbreakable bubble.

He sang:

“Adelina, you’ve broken fairy law!
Blatantly seen by someone tall.
Not only that, exchanging dust!
Dangerous for humans, stop this must!
We pay for teeth with human coin
To those rules, we must rejoin.
Don’t worry Suzie, you’ll be squared away.
Once I’m done, you won’t recall these days.
Adelina, you’re under arrest.
Come with me; it’s for the best.”

Suzie never purchased teeth again, but when her teacher asked, Suzie said she wanted to be a dentist when she grew up.
