The Ring

Sam Adams was having his breakfast as usual in the Cosmos Club in Bangkok. He was enjoying steak. Eggs and bread washed down with ample cups of coffee. As usual, he was having a hangover, and took some Tylenol to settle his aching headache. He knew that the only cure for a hang over would be more drinking which he would do in the evening.

He told his partner, and part-time lover, Kuhn Lek, who was the co-owner of the bar, that he had a dilemma that she could help him with.

He said,

“You know that Korean lady, Maria Lee, whom I’ve been seeing?”

“Yeah, I know her and don’t trust her Sam. She is up to no good, a real conniving woman and a gold digger to boot.”

“Ah, Kuhn Lek, you are jealous.”

“Kuhn Sam, you know I don’t object to you having other women. That’s not it, I just don’t trust her. Seen too many K dramas I suppose. So what’s the dilemma?”

“What kind of engagement ring I should buy and how should I give it her?”

“Okay, lets go to Chinatown and buy her the ring. Give it to her tonight in a glass of champagne.”

They went to Chinatown and bought the ring. That night Kuhn Sam gave her the ring and she said yes and they plotted the marriage of the century.
