In The Garden

The paw prints in the garden
Winked like bright stars in the midnight sky;

He trampled mud on the garden path
When he walked among the flower beds;

His laughter echoed and re-echoed
In the midday sun, unaware of ears listening;

He had fun with the job as a day gardener
'Cause the backyard was his heaven;

He sauntered to leave the backyard, however,
He turned around and shut off the water sprinkler.
