This is pretty much how it's been here in Western Montana lately!
Here we are stuck in a dark, dreary day,
lost between winter and spring.

Will it rain, will it snow, will it hail, will it blow,
what will the next hour bring?

This morning was sunny with bright clear blue skies,
while the birds were all singing a trill,

But soon the clouds rolled in and covered it up,
and issued a piercing cold chill.

It is only April, remember that now,
and yes, Old Man Winter still lingers,

He wants to hang on just as much as he can,
still clinging with long icy fingers.

But then before long, he’ll slip quietly on,
drifting far into shadows beyond,

While tree buds and flowers peek out from their beds,
summoned by Spring’s magic wand.

I yet remain hopeful that warm weather lurks,
watching and waiting so steady,

But I do have to say that I’m getting annoyed,
enough of this winter already!
