My bed is cold without you there.
I miss your loving arms.
The sheets feel stiff, damp, cold and bare,

I am missing you and all your charms.
You’ve gone, I know not where.
You had me in hands, your palm.

I thought you loved. You didn’t care.
Not once did you portent alarm
To warn me. You were not fair,

I was easy to disarm.
You simply left me in despair.
Perhaps you think you’ve caused no harm,

That all in love and war is fair?
You took your love, left me unarmed.
Left, gone. My grief I couldn’t share.

My spirit broke. Although physically unharmed,
I was sore of heart, I almost felt it tear.
But with care and love my heart I’ve darned
With golden threads of time. A lesson I have learned.
