You are my drug.
Addiction

When did it start
this strange affliction?
a needle to my heart
is now a full-blown addiction.

An initial attraction
turned dangerous chain reaction
has become all consuming
with you, unassuming.

Now no amount of rehab
or extended stint in therapy
could purge you from my veins
or otherwise cleanse you from me.

So please give me some morphine
I need to drown in this dream
cravings worse when awake
not sure how much I can take.

Because seeing you is an addict’s rush
the thought of you makes me blush
and become a lunatic raving
to quell a constant craving
this itch I cannot scratch
the breath I cannot catch.

Most days I can’t eat or sleep
while you my drug like poison creeps
through every inch of tortured skin
teeth clenched on sheets drenched
I scratch and claw to rid myself of sin.

So please give me some morphine
I need to die in this dream
Cravings worse when awake
there’s no more I can take.

Because no amount of rehab
or extended stint in therapy
could purge you from my veins
or otherwise cleanse you from me.
