Contest entry for "Poetry Song Contest"

Stop, don't look at me that way

You knew before I said it, what it was I had to say

I, once thought that we would be

Together for a lifetime

In each others company

I gotta go, now. Leaving is bittersweet.

I'm on my own now

But back up on my feet

Now, I have nothing

It took all I've left to set you free

But, if nothing is what I leave with

There's nothing left to take from me

No, you can't blame this on me

The longer I was with you, was more pain and misery

You'll be happy when I'm gone

What you thought was your secret

Something I have always known

You've always taken more than I could give. This isn't any way that I should live.

The only thing you ever gave me!

Is the only thing that's gonna save me!

There's nothing you can do or say!

You're only lying anyway!

I can't stand these games you play!

Trust me now, you'll be okay!

So, goodbye now, till the next time that we meet

I'm on my own now

And I'm back up on my feet

Since I have nothing

It means I've nothing left to lose

And all this nothing that I'm feeling

Is all I've left to give to you
