Supernatural Neighbors

“Hi there, I’m Louis Fritz and I just moved in the Victorian house next door from you.”

“Hello there, new neighbor. My name is Lilith Empusa. What can I do for you? ”

“Hi Lilith, I would like to shake your hand but I have a condition that you might not understand.”

“Oh, I’m sorry about that.”

“No problem.”

“I see my husband left you a note on your door to come by.”

“My wife saw it and gave it to me. So, what’s the problem Mrs.…?”

“The name’s Lilith Empusa. My husband, Nigel, is upstairs in the study. May I go get him?”

“No I think we can handle whatever you needed from me.”

“Okay, sounds good to me.”

“I got your note and I hate to tell you lady, but we don’t own a dog. I don’t know what you’re talking about, but we don’t own any pets. My youngest son is allergic to pet dander.”

“Well Mr. Fritz, we heard maybe two or three dogs howling loudly in your backyard last night.”

“Really? Last night? That’s impossible.”

“My husband went to find where the howling was coming from. When he got back, he told me that it came from your backyard, Mr. Fritz. He told me that he saw seven large dogs in your yard, howling at the moon. And that happened last night where you just moved in!”

“Lady, your husband sounded like he was on something last night. I don’t own any dogs. I don’t have any pets in or out of the house. All of my pups – I mean – my kids don’t even own goldfish.”

“So if you don’t own any pets, then why can I see hair on the palms of your hands? Is that the main reason why you can’t shake my hand? It’s because your condition is that you’re a werewolf.”

“And by the way, you’re a bloodsucking vampire!”

“And if I were you and your family, I would stay away from this mansion if you want to live. You know both of our kinds have been enemies since the beginning of time and I don’t want anymore quarreling. Just remember, in this part of town, there are some witches that still live within the depths of the woods. They don’t like it if one of us bites the other and then all hell breaks loose.”

“My family and I are werewolves, you should know by now that our powers grow with the full moon out. When the moon comes out within the hour, we’ll try to keep the howling until eleven this time.”

“Thank you, Mr. Fritz.”

“Wow, did you hear that?”

“The witches are chanting deep in the forest. That means they’re getting ready for their full moon ritual. Sometimes the more witches they have, the louder they are. Goodnight, Mr. Fritz.”

“Goodnight, Ma’am. And thank you for your understanding.”
