Blurb

It is the mid nineteenth-century and eleven-year-old Lizzie Harronden is heart-broken when her family have to leave their cottage and go to live on a cramped narrowboat. However, she soon comes to enjoy her new way of life and forms a close bond with Nell, the horse, who she leads along the towpath. Nell is always good-tempered, until she passes the haunted lake near the canal.



That winter is hard and they are late with a delivery of coal. In order to make up for lost time the family travels through the night. Things are going well until they approach the haunted lake. Can Lizzie help Nell overcome her fear in time to save her family from ruin?
