A true life story of how I began praying in the Holy Spirit.
MY PRAYER LANGUAGE

It was after my water baptism when others and I that were baptized went back to chapel to pray. Our chaplain then; (the Rev'd D.U. Ufomba) was leading; praying and it seems as if the presence of God was present and He told us to just open our mouth and pray; connect. I started hearing strange sounds from this my wonderful friend (Anu). I was like hmmm.. 'I too want to pray in the Holy Ghost.' meanwhile I had that thought or feeling of 'what am I even saying, if at all I start to speak another language' I never knew the enemy wanted me to feel that way.

So, in secondary school, whenever I feel the move of God(I didn't understand too well then,) and it seems as if I should open my mouth and start speaking in another language, I would feel like, 'what am I saying; I don't even know; It doesn't make sense,' etc, and I just forget it and keep worshipping God in songs.. Though, My friend might have started speaking in another language, I will just be praying waiting for my own to come just like that. I did not know it has already been done, and it was with me the issue lies. I kept holding the thoughts of 'it is not making sense', 'I don't just get', 'one day I will get mine' etc.

It was until I came into another setting; a school, I realized that something took place. There was this brother; Ezekiel by name who resumed latter than me and was very vibrant. First time in the fellowship, he was already blasting in other tongues not minding the people around. I was amazed. He was at the back, and I did not want to look back.

We became friends and we shared among ourselves (there was another bro.) the word, fellowship matters etc.

A day came and I was asked the question:

'Can you speak in tongues'? When that question came, I was kind of ashamed of myself. Though I told him no.

Hmm. Ok.. The other bro (Olu by name) could speak and was more calm. I usually ask questions then..

Bro. Ezekiel gave me two scriptures to read.

1 Corinthians chapter 12 and chapter14.
I just read it. Bro. Ezekiel came at night and told me to tell him about what I have read. I just said some random things, and then he started explaining.

Kai! The gift of godly friends. Please go for them. Two are indeed better than one for they have a good reward for their toil.

He explained that passage and I was like 'wow,' He also explained of how the enemy is the one making me to think the way I was thinking about tonguing because the enemy does not even understand the language and so he trembles when we speak it continuously.

That night, I was determined to get baptized in the Holy Spirit. with the EVIDENCE.

He went to his room and I went to another room as my room was suffering from cimex lectularius then.

I started praying! I prayed and I remember I was playing a song from my phone to keep the sovereignty of the environment, after some prayers, wow, November 2019, I started blasting in my prayer language and continued praying that God should give me utterance. The devil is a big liar! As I was tonguing, Distraction came, an alarm started ringing from one of the room mates' phone. He did not wake up and I tried to stop the alarm. It stopped, but after some time continued again, on and on, distracting me from praying. I then prayed against it. Lo and behold, the alarm stopped ringing. I continued praying. I was happy and I slept.

The next day, bro Ezekiel told me we are going to be doing 3 days vigil praying in the Holy ghost. Practice is key if you really want to continue and grow in your prayer language.

The 3 days vigil was powerful and I enjoy praying in the Holy ghost.

This was how the Lord helped me to pray in my prayer language. Hallelujah!

Praying in the Holy Spirit is a vital part of your spiritual growth.

For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit.
1 Corinthians 14:2 NIV

Praying in tongues in an evidence of the baptism in the Holy Spirit;

Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Praying in tongues edifies you;

Jude 1:20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

Through constant prayers, and the right understanding of the Bible, you too can receive your prayer language if you have not.

The first thing to do is to be born again; to be absorbed as part of God's offsprings.

For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
Romans 10:10 NIV

You can say this prayer;

Lord Jesus I know I am a sinner, I come before you today, forgive my sins and cleanse me with your blood. Jesus, I accept you as my Lord and Saviour and I believe you died and rose on the third day. Give me the grace to follow you to the end. Thank you Jesus for saving me. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

If you have said the above prayer, please feel free to send me an email.

God bless you all.
