The One Ring is found, and Elrond and Gandalf discuss its fate.
Written and edited in one go. Was inspired to be written for possible employment. No.3.

RIVENDELL

ELROND and GANDALF are having a discussion, before the upcoming gathering; that will decide the fate of the One Ring.

ELROND
You gravely displace your, and other's fate in the clamorous, and abhorrent hands of Men. They long felt the presence of grace, and only bare the markings of their corrupt fate.

GANDALF
There is more aspiration left in them, I am sure of it, then one might think Lord Elrond. They too can be unblemished, with helpful aid.

ELROND
(cynically)
Now you are being imprudent and astray . . . which somehow amuses me. Tell me, O Great Wizard, what has been omitted from my sight and wealth of knowledge that would deserve such unruly behavior? Did Men not fail themselves beforehand?

GANDALF
The lives of many–

ELROND
(of lecturing)
Or you are just acting nonchalantly, to delay the inevitable . . . Just so you can solely chase after your own head? Seems age has left a tenacious mark on you, my Old Friend.

GANDALF
Khm . . . My soul only wishes to be more candid then what is expected, Lord Elrond.

ELROND
(surprisingly)
Is-that-so?

GANDALF
Plausibly . . . while Men brought their ill fate upon themselves, they also have the strength to vanquish their past. That is what makes them worthy and laudable, above us all.

ELROND
Gandalf. Hear-my-words. The lines of great were broken long time ago. They are foreign to the notion of unanimity, they relent to see straight, nor accord with reason . . . even apathetic against their own kin, or when necessitated in need. Their mind is corrupt, and their wealth is solely converged on themselves, What are these if not the long list of heinous crimes of Men?

GANDALF
Undoubtedly . . . you speak the truth Lord Elrond. The crimes of Men I cannot object.

ELROND
(of relieve)
Finally. Sense has run its course I see.

GANDALF
Men might fall to weakness, and be subject to their own avarice, but not all chase the stench of flesh Lord Elrond.
Some, although in few in numbers, might nurture their own fruits of despite.

ELROND
(of troublesome)
These riddles you love O so much . . . Will they serve you and whom you have chosen? Their path has traversed far away from their kin. They long turned their back on their legacy, and casted away into the void. You said it yourself, not long ago if I recall, Have you forgotten?

GANDALF
Hope arises when none would see. Even in those, who blindly seek. Nobody can escape their fate, not even I. But with great belief, comes greater redemption. The curse of ill fate will be devoured . . . when fate decides. Of that I am most certain of.

ELROND
(of annoyance)
And here I thought, sense has carved its way . . . Then do tell me, who will listen to them, in this time of need? None of them will see eye to eye. You might know the heart's of Men, but they will only lavish the one among themselves. Imposing your sense on them will only fuel their resentment, and not strengthen them.

GANDALF
(complacently)
Only time will tell the tale of truth, Lord Elrond.
