... and into the forest I go to lose my mind and find my soul
Cotton

A chance to dream, to wake up,
in fields emerald green;
underneath a cotton bell,
a splendor left unseen

An unexpected moment,
an unexpected swell
We wonder where the time went,
we question how it fell

Fell in place so easily,
better than was planned;
a guiding wind blew breezily,
refreshing where I stand

as nerves ran raw through meadows,
the butterflies, they swarmed
Kaleidoscopic threads flow,
with dragonflies at dawn

didn't know what I was seeing,
a fickle page of fate
didn't see who I was missing,
until it was too late

Common sense slow, coalescing,
anxiety fed doubt
A summer second guessing,
an Indian themed drought

Dried earth, cracked, arid... thirsty,
for longer than it knew
Mirages lost, the heart sees,
illusions live on through

Thriving through the showers,
that drench such earth, so parched;
driving 'tween the bowers,
sheltered 'neath the arch

Outside the air was singing,
beats pulsing, coming through
A fabric bell, still ringing,
bringing in the new

with phantoms of lost summers,
gathering neath trees;
amidst the bass of drummers,
beats mixing in the breeze

Filtered 'tween the weave work,
where all good dreams are caught;
caught and lost forever,
salvaged where they're sought

'midst backbeats where change finds us,
where grass shoots break the earth
Spaces strange that bind us,
where faces know our worth

in forests where the mind goes,
to lose itself in bliss;
to find out where the soul flows,
... the spaces that we miss

Nostalgia, stacked so deep, we drown,
in seas, sun stacks and flares
A siren's song through lockdown,
rings stark beyond compare

'neath cotton bells, hearts take up,
their hope drawn cross grey skies
A chance to dream, to wake-up
... a perfect lulliby
