Love vs Relationship |
Love and relationship are two completely different things. You can love someone wholly and completely and yet never have or maybe even want a relationship with them. You can be in a relationship with someone but never really love them. Yet we often see the two as interchangeable. And that's natural. It's really great when these two things can go together. Who doesn't like the idea of being in a relationship with someone they love. But of course things don't always work out that way for whatever reasons. But it's important to be able to separate the two. Because loving someone, that 'feeling' state will never 'hurt' or cause you pain. It will only feel good and euphoric, or gentle and compassionate. But wanting a relationship or any other expectations and then not getting these met, causes the pain and hurt. Not that there's anything wrong with that, let's make that clear. It's perfectly normal and natural to want a relationship in our lives and to have personal expectations of them. It's just important to be aware of the distinction between the two so that we can stop blaming 'love' for our pain. No, trying to navigate ourselves around a complex relationship system involving two complicated individuals can cause pain not loving itself. Just this simple distinction makes things a little easier to put in perspective. © Cosmic Junkie |
