Coin Toss

“Report to me in two weeks.” With that statement, Andrew left the room.

Mike and Harry exchanged glances. They were clueless on how to proceed. Stay or go. Do the deed or just lay low.

“I guess we could toss for it. Heads I win, tails you win.” Harry had his quarter ready to go.

Mike took out his own quarter. “You had heads last time. Let me toss. My quarter. I want heads, you get tails.”

They argued about this for the better part of an hour. Heads versus tails, whose quarter was better, quarters versus nickels versus dimes versus pennies. Where the idea of tossing to take a turn came from. Harry and Mike started standing, now they sat around a table, twirling quarters on edge. The conversation now centered on coin tosses at pro football games and if pro games would ever begin again.

Suddenly Andrew burst into the room. “I’ve been watching you two on the hidden camera.”

His fist came down on the table. Mike and Harry jumped up, out of their chairs.

“What is going on? I told you two to get on with the deed and here you sit like two lumps arguing about coin tosses!” Andrew slapped Mike then Harry.

“Snap out of it! I told you to off Big Bill from Biloxi yet here you sit. You have two weeks to get the deed done or I’m gonna off the two of you! Understood?” Andrew slapped them again just for the fun of it. Then he stomped out of the room.

“You heard the man. I guess we need to go. I’ll drive.” Harry started for the door.

Mike stopped Harry. “You drove last time. My turn.”

“Let’s toss for it.” Harry took his quarter out again.
