April 20 Entry. GloPoWriMo 2020
I sanded down my teeth,
rammed pebbles in my eyes,
poured cement in my ears,
picked my greying scabs clean,
sliced through both my nostrils,
chewed my fingers to nubs,
swallowed both of my thumbs,
punctured my weak ankles,
coughed up two blackened lungs,
and fed on live locusts.

When I woke, I screamed!
My mutilations,
these horrid actions,
never quite happened.
This reality
inflicts fresh tortures
that we oft reject
even in our dreams.
Hell's nightmares beckon
a brighter morning.
