Must love die when carnal beauty dries?
I walk too gentle into the night
Finding love with only my skin's delight
Though I know all love dies
When carnal beauty dries

Now I cover up my mirror
Because I can't face this new fear
Waking to see I'm not the fairest of them all
And watch my beauty take its fall

As Father Time takes it away
I only yearn harder for my beauty to stay
Wondering if Bathory had it right
If blood can really keep my skin's delight?

But then came my mum's voice
An echo that made my love rejoice
She said a girl's beauty is her love
And her white wings of dove
She's a growing beauty beyond time
Not one that can be stolen by our Father Time

When I'm the drying flower in the spring
In a garden where beauty is the language they all sing
When I'm all old and frail
Looking more like the witch of a fairy tale
Who, O who, will hold my dying heart's key?
Who, O who, will still love me?

Only he who sees my dove wings
Only he who sees my love spring
He will still love me
He will still love me
I know he will
I know he will
