Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take!
Growing up, I never thought about how powerful this little prayer was or its full meaning.
You would have to know something about the Lord and have explicit trust in Him to accept the conditions of this prayer.
Many times we lay down or fall asleep right where we are without thought or care for tomorrow. But what if there is no tomorrow for you? What if you just slept on into eternity? What would be your last thoughts on earth?
For years, I have been asking God to help me learn how to pray continuously and always. It is not an easy feat, but you can give Him praise in the morning, throughout the day, and when you lay down to rest at night.
Just something to think about after you have gone a full twelve (12) hours, and nestle down to pleasant dreams.
