The Swim Team

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Aaron's POV~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"And why do you want to join the swim team?" The captain of Delta Academy's swimming team, Morgan Harris is blocking my entrance to the pool room with his arms crossed. He usually does that when he's trying to be intimidating "Aren't you the captain of the track team?"
"I was but I gave the position over to Ethan and then I quit" I shrug and then shove my hands into the pockets of the sports team letter jacket I threw on earlier just for the style "Besides. I like swimming much better" I scan the small group of the team members who were warming up for the practice session as I try to find the guy I'm looking for. I spot him in one of the corners of the large room talking to Kyle. Bingo.
I hear Morgan growl in front of me and I inwardly smirk at that. He must think that I've already forgotten that he's there and that's just too amusing. I look back at him and smile.
"Okay. I'll let you join. Just as long as you listen to what I tell you. I don't want a member on my team who isn't going to cooperate" he steps aside for me and I walk in. I smile and wink at him and he rolls his eyes before walking away from me and heading towards the coach who was keeping an eye on the practice session.
I dart towards Quinn and Aaron and grin at them "Hey, guys" I say and put my hand on my hip. I can feel Kyle's glare burning through me already "Looks like we're going to be friends for a while longer, Ky" I put my arm around his shoulders and he lets out a quiet hiss, which makes me chuckle.
"Are you serious about joining the swim team?" he raises his eyebrow at me "Or did you just join because Quinn is here?" He looks over to Quinn, who only shrugs in reply.
"Both" I winked at Kyle before heading over to Quinn "So, have you decided about going out with me yet?" I smile at him and put my hand on his slender shoulder "Because you know I really like you. I'll buy you dinner tonight and blow you afterwards" I ignore the glare I receive from Kyle while Quinn blushes at my statement
"I'll leave you two alone so I'm going to practice with the others" Kyle waves at us and walks off to join the team in the pool "Good luck on your date I guess"
"Do you have to talk about that here? I'm trying to practice" Quinn pinches the bridge of his nose before glaring at me, his cheeks still flushed from embarrassment "If I say yes, will you please not talk about this until at least after practice?"
"I'll shut my mouth until tonight" I smirk at him and wrap an arm around his waist, pulling him close to myself "Babe"
"You are so fucking embarrassing sometimes"
"So I was thinking about the restaurant tonight. How about we go to Tony's?" I pat his head and his blush deepens at my actions "Or even the other one down street from the dorms?"
"I don't mind as long as I get food" He pulls away from me and takes his letter jacket off so he could get into the pool with the others. I grin and watch his every moment. Especially the way his spine curves due to his actions. I can't help it. He has such a well-built body that it's hard to keep my eyes off him. Joining the swim team was definitely one of the best choices of my life.
"Stevens" Morgan strolls over to me with his hands in his jacket pockets "Are you going to stop flirting and get into the pool sometime?" he says with his usual cold expression that me must save specially for me.
"Do I have to?" I pout at him and give him my best puppy eyes. Even though I can swim quite well, I just don't want to right now. I look over at Quinn, who motions for me to get into the pool. There's no escaping this now.
"You're on the swim team so yes you do have to. Otherwise the coach is going to on both our asses so get in the pool" Morgan pulls out a stopwatch from his pocket "Get in the pool and do a lap. I'll time you and note down the numbers to help you improve"
"Fucking bastard" I huff at him and take off my own jacket, giving it to Quinn to hold "Don't watch me strip, perv" I stick my tongue out at Morgan, who rolls his eyes again and has his thumb on the start button ready for me "Okay, I'm getting in now" I look down at the water. Most of the others in the team have stopped practicing and are watching us. This really sucks. Taking a deep breath, I decide to use the ladder and quickly climb into the pool.
"I'm starting the time so get moving" Morgan presses the button "I'm not deducting any time from this so stop fucking around and swim. One lap. Come on"
I silently mimic what he says, knowing he caught onto it, and push off the side of the pool to give myself a boost. I ignore the world around me as I focus on getting to the other side of the pool. When I get there, I take another breath before swimming back to the other side again to join Morgan and Quinn who had been watching the whole time "How was that?" I grin up at Morgan who stops the watch "Pretty impressive, huh?"
"A minute and a half. Not bad. Could be better though" I frown at what he says "But that's what you're here for so another lap please"
I sigh at that and push off the wall again to swim to the other side. I don't take back what I thought earlier. This is really going to suck.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Later that night~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I still can't believe Quinn actually agreed to go on a date with me. I must have done something good this week because this is definitely my lucky day.

I grin to myself as I run the brush through my hair, raking through my fingers through it too to get the tangles out before dousing myself with body spray. I want to look and smell perfect for this because I don't actually score as much as I like to say I do. Which I know is pretty surprising for a guy like me.

Out of all of the people I've been on a date with or had a relationship with, Quinn is the person I can truly see myself with. We have our banter but I know he likes me. I always notice the way he stares and blushes at me. And the way he notices everything I do.

Grabbing my phone and my wallet, I shove them into the pockets of my jeans before locking my dorm and heading out. This is truly going to the best night of my life. And it better have good results or I would have joined the swim team for nothing because I don't actually like swimming. But if he becomes my boyfriend, I won't need to work as hard to be this close to him anymore. I can quit the swim team after a few months so it doesn't seem that I was just doing it for Quinn and then I can go seek out clubs for whatever other passions I have. But one thing for sure is that I'm definitely not going back to the track team. Fuck that noise.

I arrive at Quinn's dorm quicker than I expected and ring his doorbell. I'm not waiting on his doorstep for long as he answers and I smile at him.

"Ready to go? I know the perfect club we can go to. It's called Pulse and it's pretty fucking sweet" I put my hand on my hip "It's a gay club where you can get really frisky"

"Yeah, I'm ready" he's nervous. He's fidgeting a lot and he's doing that cute thing where he shuffles his feet. I chuckle at that. Not a lot of the people I've had a fling with were nervous on the first date but I'm not exactly complaining. It means I can help get him to loosen up a bit during our night together.

After he locks his own dorm door, he reaches his hand out for me and I take hold of it, lacing our fingers together. He doesn't say much as we walk together, mainly just niceties and how his day went. I actually want to hear it because I want to know as much as possible about him in case we start dating.

I smile at him again and then pull him with me as I cross the road, taking the shortcut through the alleyway to get to Pulse. As we near the club, I feel his grip tighten on my hand.

"Hey, there's nothing to be nervous about here. Well, I will say one thing. Some of the men get a little bit handsy sometimes but I promise that I won't let anything happen to you. I'm being a good boyfriend"

"We're not going out together" he reminds me with a frown.

"Not yet" I wink at him and then lead him into the club. I keep hold of his hand so I don't lose him in this place as we head over to the bar "Wanna go get a drink? It'll help you relax" when he nods, I take him over to the desk and clear my throat to get the bartender's attention "Two mojitos please" I let go of his hand so I can pull my wallet out but he stays close beside me, almost afraid to step away from me lest he get lost in the sea of bodies and hormones. And I don't blame him either. Nightclubs can be scary places "Here" I hand him his drink after the bartender finishes pouring them and I then pay for them both.

I take him over to the nearest two-seater table and sit opposite him, swirling the ice in my glass as I study his face. He's frowning down at his own drink and his hands are clenched on his lap.

"Hey" he looks up at me when I speak "Relax, okay. Like I said. Nothing is gonna happen. We're gonna have a few drinks and a dance and then do whatever you want to do. And whether we go back to your dorm or mine can also be up to you as well"

"I don't mind whose dorm we go back to" he sips from his glass "I'd rather go back to yours though. Consider it a thanks for taking me out on this date tonight"

"Heh, I'm the one who should be thanking you. Didn't think you'd agree" I down half my drink at once "Looks like my persuasion was up to scratch. Either that or I'm just naturally such a charming guy"

He tuts and rolls his eyes but he's smiling so I can tell he's not actually annoyed at that. Rather, the opposite. And that makes a grin tug at my own lips. He's just so damn cute all the time.

"When we finish this drink, want another one before we go dance?"

He looks to be in thought for a moment before nods.
"Sure. But I get to pick the drink this time"
