A Flower and the Feeling of Defeat

I feel so defeated

A flower garden overgrown with weeds

A door hanging by its last hinge

Failure broke the door

Leaving doubt to walk right in

Why would a flower choose the desert

Over a meadow full of green

Scorching sun and rain-less sky give nothing but hurt

To the poor flower that somehow manages to survive

Oh flower, I too cannot pick up my roots and walk away

Like you, I'm stuck in a place that I chose but now find much too dry

Hang on, for when I'm finished, I will come back for you

I'll uproot you and we'll both find a place

Where together we will start anew
