Saying not a word but collapsing instead
Eyes staring not seeing a thing
Breathing stopping as does all life
Responding not to an assistance
Chest compressions doing no good
Your demise being understood.

Lighting the world with your charm
Loving your man despite himself
He is watching you lie there an empty shell
Life support breathing for you
Doctors are saying it is no use
Watching you die as machines are shut off
Feeling the guilt of killing you.

His love for you burning strong
Seeking no other in his life
A widower until his death
Loving you for being his wife
Your memory living strong.

Susan J. Schrebe, my wife collapsed this day, five years ago in 2014. She succumbed to double pneumonia. She was resuscitated but with severe brain damage. She was on life support for three agonizing days. I love you Susan!

She loved Tennessee Football!
