And so the story goes,
but there's a twist,
something about her style he just can't resist,
something in the heart makes him insist it's real.

He was a loner, journeyed from within,
But tired of Love starting thick but soon --- thin,
Tired of living the Book of Mass Appeal.

But she was from a different page,
The adversary to his rage,
that finally made him come of age---set free.

If he could only be her hero,
she wouldn't read the Pain and Sorrow,
wouldn't have an ending that's concealed,
then she wouldn't have to close the book to heal.
