My Story Isn’t Over

I thought it was over,
holding no will to live.
I gave up and lost myself,
in pools of sorrow’s tears.

I had lost all that I held dear,
been left with no reason to go on.
I gave up on life and withdrew
deep into the depths of my own mind.

That’s when love reached out,
cleaned off the mud of despair.
It gave me hope for better days,
a passion for living life again.

Lessons were learned at a high cost,
but I am now thankful for the scars
left behind from a painful life and
giving me wisdom with which to live.

The most important lesson learned,
one that resonates deep in my soul
is that no matter what life my spin my way,
my story isn’t over.
