a Pantoum (poetry form)
Stride stride Stride stride
My feet keep rhythmic time.
I listen to soft whirring wheels
And feel the cadence of

My feet. “Keep rhythmic time,!”
My heart beats a march,
And I feel the cadence
Throbbing in my soul.

My heart beats a march
As nature speaks to the
Throbbing in my soul;
Calling me through frigid air.

Nature speaks to
Red-gold leaves;
Calling me through frigid air
They swirl around my legs.

Red-gold leaves
Form a crimson carpet.
They swirl around my legs
As my feet tramp a steady pulse.

I cross the crimson carpet
And listen to soft whirring wheels
As my feet tramp a steady pulse:
Stride stride Stride stride.
