The Package

As I approached my house, I noticed a large package on the doorstep. The box was approximately 6 inches wide and 12 inches long. I couldn't imagine what it could be, because I haven't ordered anything.

As I went inside my house, I picked up the box and began examining it. It was slightly heavy with the name of a gift shop on the label. There was also an arrow indicating how to open the box.

My excitement grew not only for what was inside the box, but who sent it. A beautifully wrapped package was inside the box along with a greeting card. Inside the greeting card was written:

         To my longtime friend,
                   I was heartbroken to hear of your grandmother's passing. I hope you enjoy the little happy that I picked out for you.                    When you look at it, please remember that I am praying for you as well as the Lord.

         Ada Marie

I was even more excited now that I knew it was from my college roommate. Ada Marie was skilled at picking the right gift for people. Amazement overcame me as a beautiful turquoise stoneware cross with a magnolia in the center. The cross represented my grandmother's love and devotion to our Lord and Savior. The magnolia represented my grandmother's enjoyment of fragrant flowers. Once again, Ada Marie had picked the perfect gift.
