A Cautionary Tale. |
Mary had a little lamb its fleece was white as snow and everywhere that Mary went the lamb was sure to go well slowly over time she saw the snowy white turn grey Mary was somewhat perturbed but nothing seemed astray Where once the lamb had gentle teeth now sprung long fangs of white the lamb then turned on Mary and would molest her in the night It slowly ate away at her the grey now fully black and no one from the outside saw the wounds from its attacks "It's only a sweet lamb" they cried "innocent and full of charm" no one believed Mary, when she told of the lamb's harm This is no way to live, she thought and gathered her resolve "Lamb, it's over, you and I We're no longer involved." The lamb just cocked its woolly head and smiled its toothy smile "is that so?" sweet lambkins said "...maybe in a while." Mary, scared now, tried to run the lamb held her in place it dug it's hoof into her wounds and smeared it on its face Then bleating loudly, lambkins fled into the town it ran and all the other people saw was a bloodied, frightened lamb. The girls all cooed "oh you poor thing!" "What did that Mary do?" The lamb then let just one tear slide "She threatened me with stew." One by one the townsfolk turned their backs on evil Mary the lamb continued in its ways and preyed on the unwary and no one ever did believe those who spoke against it the lambs sweet face and silver tongue kept it well protected. |
