THE NIGHT YOU FED ME ROOFIES AND STARTED LAUGHING

...It's night.

I bleed as you split every seam.

The pounding echoes off the walls for days.

Purple eyes concealed with false skin.

I laugh

Because mine is the false skin.

A thin layer of parchment

Hiding words whispered in the dark.

Black tongues lap at my wounds

While white teeth smile.

I cry out to an earless moon

While the sun stays safe in denial.

Sleep winds itself around my bones

The weight of a sheer cliff

Forcing me down.

You smell of a long forgotten memory

In a dream.

While the carpet burns holes in your hands

My knees.

Now you are immortal

And I am a ghost.

Your fingers on my teeth. My tongue.

A pill.

Swallow.

No more, I say

And my head spilled onto the table

Like a warm drink.

The world became sideways

Except for you.

A cat's green eyes glistening in the dark.

You start laughing and I forget your name.

The sound of a somersaulting crash.

I learned later that you fell down the stairs

The only thing about that night worth a laugh.

Dark mists surround me and invite me to

A place like before I was born.

The only time that night I said yes, I accept

Only to open my eyes without waking.

I am the living dead.

Chin meets cold, hard porcelain.

I wretch.

Fingers on teeth. Pill on tongue. Swallow.

And I wretch.

Fingers on teeth. Pill on tongue. Swallow.

And I wretch.

Fingers on teeth. Pill on tongue. Swallow.

But I only bring up the sound of your laughter.

I choke up your white teeth.

I gag out your black tongue

While it drips beads of charm

Between my thighs.

I smear my fingers

Through the dark ink puddle

And into my eyes

But it doesn't blind.

And all the time

I wring with your laughter.

When my eyes finally spill salt

Down my cheeks

It's not for a dead girl like me.

It's for you

My immortal majesty

Because this is what you think love is.
