Chapter
2
The next morning
Zola woke up to the smell of smoky bacon and sweet pancakes. She
looked over at her pink fury clock and saw the time.
"7:00 a.m."
whispered Zola to herself.
She was still
tired, but the food smelled delicious, so she got up to get dressed.
She walked into the bathroom to brush her long brown hair and brush
her teeth. Once finished, she walked back to her room to pick out
some clothes to wear for the day. Because it was Christmas Eve, she
tried to find something festive. She grabbed a nice red dress out of
her closet and found some white leggings in her dresser. She also
found a pair of Christmas socks to go along with her outfit
She then walked
downstairs to eat breakfast. As she walked through the kitchen door
all the smells of the great breakfast went past her. She quickly sat
down at the table and began to eat.
"Slow down or
you might choke." said Meredith.
Zola couldn't
slow down. She was too excited to go and finish her painting. She
walked into the craft room and sat down at the table. She grabbed her
brush and began to paint. Once she finished her painting, she went in
the kitchen to eat lunch.
"Mom!" Zola
said. "What can I eat for lunch?"
Zola's mother
walked swiftly into the kitchen.
"Well let's
just see what we can find." replied Meredith
Zola walked over
to the table and sat down. Her mother soon came with a grilled ham
and cheese sandwich, with some potatoes. Zola quietly ate her lunch
and then put her dishes from lunch away. She then went into the
dining room to watch some more TV. After while Meredith went up to
her room to grab a book to read. When she came back down there was a
guy standing at the bottom of the stairs with her back to her. The
closer she got the more she realized who it was. She ran the rest of
the way down the stairs.
"DAD!" Zola
scream.
Tears running
down her face. She could not believe he was in front of her.
"I missed you
so much, Zola!" said her dad.
"I'm sorry I
didn't tell you that he was coming home. I thought it would be a
great Christmas present for you! He wasn't supposed to get her till
tomorrow, but he must have got in early." said Meredith.
"That is
correct and I couldn't be happier!" said Zola's dad.
All
wrapped in each other arms, laughing and crying together. Zola peaks
her head out of the middle.
"This is the
best Christmas ever!"
