Goodbyes to E-Town. Dec 10, 2018
The Avenue

I picked myself up again
Like I promised I would
I was bruised and broken
Not finding anything good

To take me there again
Back to that lonely town
I feel I've had enough now
No reason to stick around

There will be no more

Wishing on a star at night
Praying with all my might
Staring up at the moon
Singing in my lonely room

I turned and walked away
With this guitar in my hand

Maybe you'll see me someday
Walking on the Avenue again

The times you all turned away
As I tried so hard to find you
The wicked game you all played
Not caring how it made me blue

The times you stood at my door
With no reason to lift your hand
Finally my heart said no more
I have had all that I can stand

There will be no more

Wishing on a star at night
Praying with all my might
Staring up at the moon
Singing in my lonely room

I turned and walked away
With this guitar in my hand

Maybe you'll see me someday
Walking on the Avenue again
