ode to EAP (Edgar Allen Poe)

With a sluggish surprise I started coming too

The sensation of a warm liquid was running down my arm

A rhythmic pulse was the other sensation which came from my hand

A hard steel object being in possession of my other hand.

Turning my aching head with my eyes being three quarters closed

Crimson was the color of its sensation

The strength of the pulse started weakening

My mind is scarily starting to clear

Looking in front of me I see a poor unfortunate soul motionless on the floor

Again crimson was the color in my vision.

The object was their heart

Holding the still weak beating organ

The remainder of the warm blood stopped oozing out

My mind clearing

Being left not understanding the situation

With a gasp of surprise and a twitch of my hand

The organ seemed to have jumped

Hitting the floor and bouncing onto the victim's chest

As if it knew where it belonged
