"Free speech is obsolete and should be banned,"
I heard a student state while drinking beer.
"Safe spaces must be claimed across this land."

Gay women were the first to take a stand.
Inspired by equal rights and primal fear,
they founded spots where arguing was banned.

Meetings were held and safer places planned
where friends could meet and no one shouted, "Queer!"
Safe spaces sprouted up across this land.

The schemes they dreamed were innocent and grand.
The few discordant views just raised a jeer,
but freedom is a right that can't be banned.

As time flows by, it's getting out of hand.
This curb on freedom could be felt for years.
Safe spaces are a curse upon this land.

Deaf to the world, your head is in the sand.
To me, the risks of censorship are clear.
Free speech is needed still and can't be banned.
Safe spaces should be closed across this land.
