Prompt: Finding a Unicorn

I found a unicorn once. It was living in the enchanted forest that grew through a magic portal in my closet. My parents weren't aware that my closet was actually a portal to the enchanted forest and I wasn't going to tell them. They were a little old fashioned and set in their ways and I didn't think they could handle knowing there was a magic portal in my closet. Then one night I sneaked out of bed because I heard something in my closet calling my name. The voice was kind so I knew it wasn't a monster. No monster ever had a kind voice! So I got up and went to the closet and threw back the door. There stood Earl the Elf! I had never seen an elf before so I was a little taken aback by the pointed ears and his size. While it was obvious he was an adult Earl only stood three feet, six inches tall. He had on a weird outfit with a pair of striped tights and odd shirt. I knew instantly he was an elf. However I was old enough not to believe in fairy tales any more so his appearance struck me as odd.

"Hallo", he shouted so loudly I was certain it would awaken my parents.

"Be quiet", "You'll wake the whole family."

"Nobody but you can hear me. Come I want to show you something."

Suddenly the portal appeared and we stepped through to the enchanted forest. "Whoa! What is this? How did you do that?"

"Remember I'm an elf. Magic powers!"

"Yes but you can't be real and neither can this. I must be dreaming!"

"You aren't dreaming! In the morning when you get up tap on your closet wall three times. That will open the portal to the enchanted forest, where you are now. When you come in the door will will close but all you have to do is wish it open."
"
"Wow! I can't believe any of this!"

"I wanted you to meet somebody. This is King Francis the Second. Master and Enchanted Sorceror, the Unicorn King of Enchanted Forest!"

Earl was kneeling as a horse with a horn growing from its headd approached us. I knelt with him.

"We see you brought the human child", King Francis said. "Now the fun can begin. I have wanted somebody to ride me since I was a pony but none would do so because I am the ruler of this great land. The one who rides me must be found worthy of it. You, Gregory of Newburg have been found worthy. My elf will help you onto my back and we will roam the forest. You can come back anytime, even when you are an adult. However you must never tell another human being about Enchanted Forest or any of us."

I guess I violated King Francis' ruling because I just told all of my readers, did I not?

(Author's note: I realize that there is a lot of potential in this story. However I feel the Writer's Cramp entries should be written without a lot of revisions. I may add more later or give the idea to a fantasy writer and let them run with it.)
