Here are the prompts for Round 1: Angel, Graveyard, Shadows in the Dark Contest entry for Spirits at Lighthouses Poetry Contest August 2, 2018 Surrounded by angels, I walk through the night Protected from spirits, that may come in sight. From graveyards to places the dead now call home I seek out their presence wherever they roam. I travel and search those who know no rest, With unfinished business, these unwelcomed guests Haunt remembered places where they embark On sad restless sojourns, shadows in the dark. The dead have no time clock. The dead don’t keep time. They met with an accident, health crisis, or crime. Others a tragedy befell them one day. They felt a strong reason for wanting to stay. They need to cross over, go into the light, And, that’s why I’m searching with all of my might! I am what you could call a ghost whisperer Let me assure you, I’m no amateur. The tales I could tell you, would rattle your bones, From ectoplasmic sightings to hideous moans. Echoes of lives once like yours and mine Send shivers and shudders and chills down my spine. So, I wander the highways and byways of life, Seeking those entities lost and in strife. Surrounded by angels, I walk through the night Protected from spirits, that may come in sight. |
