I only dare to dream

As you lay in your bed and close your eyes you can rest assured it’s you that I am thinking of as I lay here in mine.

And when you stir and wake from your dreams you can know with certainty it’s you that I’ve been dreaming of all night.

When you find your thoughts wandering through the day you should know mine have been preoccupied with you all day long.

When you glance down at your phone and there is no message from me, know that it has taken every ounce of self restraint I have to stop myself from hitting send.

I look up to see a full moon...
I pass a cyclist on a training ride...
I watch a kid on his bike...
I smell the familiar smell of pizza...
I hear Ed Sheeran playing on the radio...

You occupy my every thought of every day and it takes every single thing in me to stay away
Is this really what you need - I can’t believe that is so

Of these two things I am sure

I dare to believe it will be enough
