Special Friendship

Special Friendship
Jimbo was a special dog
He helped us find lost things
From a missing sock to library books
Even baby’s favorite teething ring.

Jimbo went outside almost everyday
To watch the birds fly by
He walked us to our old school bus
To tell us all bye-bye.

Jimbo was a gentle dog
No one was ever bitten
He surprised us when he went outside
And came back with a very small kitten.

He watched us check the kitten out
He sniffed him when he returned from the vet
The two would sleep together at night
Their friendship grew and became all set.

Buddy grew to be a fine strong cat
With Jimbo the two had lots of fun
Their days were free of strife and woes
Their happiness could never be outdone.

Both animals had a life of friendship
They loved each other from start to end
They crossed the Rainbow Bridge a week apart
A special sadness no one was able to mend.
