Three Minute Read
Dinosaur Thoughts

“You look like a dinosaur.”

“I am a dinosaur.”

“No, I don’t think so.”

“Why not?”

“First of all, dinosaurs were very big.”

“Maybe I’m just short.”

“Even short dinosaurs were very big. Plus, there haven’t been any dinosaurs on earth for sixty-six million years.”

“Maybe I’m very old.”

“Maybe, but you don’t seem very old. Plus, I believe I remember the day you were born. I think I was there.”

“Where did I come from?”

“You grew in your mummy’s tummy.”

“Did she swallow me?”

“No, you started out as an egg.”

“I was an egg?”

“Yes.”

“Well the that settles it, I must have been a dinosaur egg. That’s why I look like a dinosaur.”

“Or perhaps, you’re just ‘part’ dinosaur...and in a dinosaur costume.”

“Gram, was my mother happy on the day that I was born?”

“She was more happy than she had ever been in her whole life. Just like I was more happy than I had ever been in my whole life on the day that your mother was born.”

“When my mother was little, did she ever make you very, very angry?”

“Yes, she did.”

“And did you still love her.”

“Always.”

“So, do you think when Mom gets home and sees her broken necklace, that she will still love me?

“I’m sure of it, especially if you tell her yourself, and say that you’re sorry.”

“Even if I’m not a dinosaur?”

“Yes, even if you’re not a dinosaur.”

“Ok, I guess I can try it.”

“You should take off your dinosaur costume first.”

“Why?”

“She might not know it’s you.”

“But you did...”

“Yes, but only because I’m part dinosaur myself.”
