Shattered promise that was made by her father, Akira sets out to prove her brother.
Akira felt misplaced within the pack she was part of. Especially after the sudden of her father, Zefron. Her brother Alpha became the new leader of the pack of wolves. Her father had promised that Akira was going to be the new leader, but Alpha didn't see it that way. Next in line of the pack was to be the older sibling and male of the leader. Unfortunately, Alpha didn't want to give up this position to his little sister.

The day after their father's death, Alpha had challenged his own sister for the position as leader. Unfortunately, it didn't go well for Akira. The fight between brother and sister left Akira with a scar down the left side over her eye. Alpha even threatened his own sister. He had told her that if she didn't accept his position, he would have her exiled from the pack. Luckily their mother, Sienna, had made it clear to her son that he would do no such thing.

Sienna was heartbroken that the promise Zefron had made shattered in front her. Her and Zefron had this feeling about Akira, but couldn't figure out what it was. But by the way Akira had received orders from her brother, she wasn't happy and Sienna could tell. Worrying about her own daughter, Sienna couldn't focus on her thoughts. She knew that there was something special about Akira, but she also feared that it was nothing but a feeling.

Noticing that the pack was leaving for a hunt, Sienna knew that Akira remained behind as usual. Alpha had always ordered his sister to stay home with their mother while the pack was out.

"Since they are going to hunt without you again, you want to talk Akira?" Sienna knew that Akira needed to talk, but it was difficult at the same time. Fearing from exile, Akira had kept quiet around her brother and the rest of the pack. Even Akira knew that the rest of them didn't want her as leader, either.

All Akira wanted to do was to head back into the cave and sleep as she always did. "I'm tired, mother. I'm always left with the boring stuff like throwing all the leftovers into the woods."
Walking over to her daughter, Sienna laid down right next her and said, "If you want to leave you can."

Shocked to hear what her mother said, all Akira could do was look at her. Sienna knew that Akira didn't like the idea, but she had to reassure to why.

"I can see it your eyes, Akira. I know that your father had made the decision that you were going to be the next leader. I also know that the rest of the pack doesn't want you around because of Alpha. He shouldn't be treating you like a servant since it's optional for a sibling to help out with running things. You need to find yourself on your own and prove to your brother that you have what it takes to be a leader."
"What happens when Alpha finds out that I'm gone?" Growing concern, Akira couldn't hold back her anger. "He would most likely make sure that I don't come back to the pack, mother."

"Let your brother think that way, Akira," Sienna replied. "There is an unexplained reason why your father wanted you to take over the pack if anything had happened to him. I see it as well, but I still don't have the answer, but I had a feeling that your father knows what it is. I wish that I was there when your father died, Akira. None of the pack was other than your brother and Luca."
"What about you?" Worrying about her mother, Akira hoped that she would go with her.

"I'll be fine, Akira," Sienna assured. "If it gets out of hand with your brother, I will find you. He won't be able to do anything to me. I promise, Akira. Right now, it's up to you to find yourself on your own. I hope you understand?"

Knowing that she would keep her promise, all Akira could do was give her mother a grin.

The moon was full when the pack feel asleep including Alpha, Akira knew that she had to be quiet. Luca, who was Alpha's second-in-command, was keeping a lookout for any possible intruders. What she didn't know was that her mother had followed her until she wasn't seen. "Good luck, Akira. Hope you find yourself out there and prove your brother wrong."

Throughout the night, Akira had kept walking until it was safe enough to get some rest. Not wanting to catch any attention walking away from the pack, she didn't want to leave her mother alone. She grew concern about her, including what her brother might say or do when he finds out that she's gone. Once she was in the clear, Akira had found a small cave and had gotten herself some sleep.

For once having some sleep without her brother being around, Akira had gotten the rest she needed. Letting her feet take her where she needed to go the next day, Akira's journey was going to begin alone. Once the sun began to rise the next morning, Akira managed to find a meal and a stream before heading North.
