A conversation with my Dad.
My father is a hard working man. He is in construction. I am his daughter and I am equally as hard working. I am a paramedic. We were getting ready for work one morning very early when my father turns to me and asks,

"Can you really lay down your own life to save someone else that you don't even know?"

"Of course I can." I reply without a second thought.

"Why?" My father asks.

"Because that is who I am as a person and that is what the job sometimes asks of us." I say.

"But you don't know these people." My father says again.

"It doesn't matter if I know them or not. They need help, some more than others, and I am willing to do what I can." I say.

"You cannot save everyone." My father says.

"No but I will try." I say.

"When will you give this up and get a real job? One that isn't so dangerous?" My father asks.

"Never. This is my calling and I love every second of it." I say.
