Castings

Shuttered doors invoke clautrophobia, thus
mine stay open. Even doors I'd like to slam shut,
bolt and toss the key off a cliff
remain at least cracked.
Cracked like splintered nightmares
that loom at inopportune moments.

Locked in Jovian mirrored maze,
seeking a non-reflection leading out, beyond
the looking glass world into a place
where fractured splinters no longer
shard into daggers of hurt, of pain.
All labyrinths have an exit.

Instead, I desire to expell these doubts
but know, tis far better to, instead,
cast them into a mold of clay
to sit in perfumed garden where vines can scandent,
clinging to weathered cracks, and, eventually,
break down the oft thrown stones into sand.

Then, and only then
can new doors be flung wide,
let cleansing winds blow self-doubt
to the far reaches of never more.
Come vast distance, now just need
final step -- over the threshold.
