Here are a few of the unique physical characteristics God designed into camels.
I love learning about our Creators' designs of the various animals and other things They created to make up Their Creation. There is an amazing wealth of information available to everyone today about animals and everything else God made to reside with us on this earth, detailed information as scientists have studied and found out just how unique and especially designed to function in various environments all of God's Creation is.

One of God's uniquely designed animal creatures is the camel. In the following short article about dromedary camels which are among the animal species on display at the Ararat Ridge Zoo behind the life-size replica of Noah's Ark: the ARK ENCOUNTER at Williamstown, Kentucky, some of these animals' creative design features are shared.

THE INCOMPARABLE CAMEL

THE ARARAT RIDGE ZOO behind the Ark is home to several dromedary camels. Dromedary camels have one hump, and are native to the deserts of northern Africa and the Middle East. They have amazing designs to allow them to live in these harsh environments.

Remarkably, camels can drink 30 gallons of water in just 13 minutes! Many people believe that camel humps are used to store water, but that's false. Water is stored in their blood. The humps are made up of fat and cartilage, which can be broken down into energy when food is scarce.

Additionally, camels have specialized footpads that allow them to walk on top of the sand instead of sinking into it. They have tough calluses on their knees and chest to protect their legs and bellies from being burned by the hot sand when lying down.

Camels also have incredible strength and endurance. They can be conditioned to carry up to 1,000 pounds for 25 miles per day!
