When you're in love's forge, strike when the iron's hot
Alloys

So simple in Soliloquy
The clarity of one
Dialogue the soul decrees,
… alone is how it's done

With drama caused when souls collide
When hearts and minds conflict
When two hearts line up for the ride,
and two minds contradict

There's drama in the routine chores
We dance through the exchange
'tween two or more, cross lonely shores
That seem so out of range

Out the grasp of mortal minds
Too far for fragile hearts
Too much to ask of some, they find
Souls sacrificed in parts

With 'self' a scarce commodity
How much can we spare
Such unions, rare oddities
So few in which we care

So few drawn as examples
Templates from which to forge
Midst hammers striking anvils,
Tongues of fire in the gorge

Flames hot in the foundry's mouth
Where souls are joined and made
With souls devoured North and South
From East to West, we're played

Trusting that the mettlesmiths,
are skilled, deft with their hands
Hoping that we'll be left with
Something like we planned

An alloy fused between two parts
An ornament designed
To use two souls, two minds, two hearts
To somehow better find

A trinket stronger, forged anew
Annealed by life's flames
To hold the things we hold onto
To keep from what life claims

But each must bring their best to bear
Our finest to the fore
To give, to take, to keep, to share
All this... and so much more

Till then we live soliloquies
The sanctity of self
Gaining sensibilities
We prove ourselves on shelves
