We Were Almost There!

It's a beautiful day today!
The sun is shining with a nip in the air.
It's the first day that we get to be together.
It's been such a long time.

I love spending time with you.
Even if it's for a day.
A walk on the beach sounds lovely.
As we walk hand in hand along the sandy trail.

You lean down to kiss my cheek, soft and tenderly.
As you think to yourself, I have never loved anyone like her.
You look deep into my eyes, searching for a sign of the same.
A soft sweet smile upon my lips with a twinkle in my eye, you did find.

We listen to the waves and the birds as we make our way to the pier.
You stop and pick up a shell for me.
You wipe the sand away and place it within my hand.
You realize that you never want to be without me.

Before you even realize what you are doing
you were down on one knee, holding my hand.
I look into your eyes with disbelief.
As the waves crash against the rocky shore.

A flock of seagulls fly overhead.
Just as you begin to speak.
Splat, splat, splat on top of your head.
The sounds of laughter ringing in your ears.

We were almost there!
