Christian struggles to end things with Irene. Will Vivian’s patience with him be tested?

Christian slowly awakened at five in the morning to the theme music from the Netflix show House of Cards emanating from his cell phone alarm. As he reached over and quickly silenced it he heard stirring on the other side of the bed. It was Vivian, who was also awakened by his phone.
“You really set your alarm last night?” She asked as they laid together in her bed.
Christian nodded. “If I didn’t it’s no telling when I would have gotten up this morning.”
Vivian reluctantly nodded, wiping her eyes to awaken herself. “I understand. But five o’clock?”
“I’m sorry.” Christian said. “I guess I didn’t have to get up so early.” He then laid back with his hands under the pillow on which his head rested.
Vivian laid down on his chest. Christian inhaled deeply. “I love the smell of your hair.”
Vivian smiled. “Thank you.”
“What is that smell?” Christian asked.
“Me.” Vivian said.
“Seriously. I know you don’t just smell that good naturally.”
“I guess I do.” Vivian said as Christian chuckled. “I don’t use anything other than a scentless shampoo and olive oil. And there’s only one brand of olive oil I…”
“Olea Estates.” Christian said.
Vivian rose from Christian’s chest and turned to look at him with an astonished smile. “You remember that?”
Christian shrugged. “I had never seen olive oil that expensive. I had no idea you were bathing with it.”
Vivian playfully hit Christian’s chest. “I use it to condition my hair. I can’t believe you remember what brand of olive oil I use on my hair.”
Christian looked at Vivian. “I remember everything about the day I met you.”
Vivian’s heart jumped. She then kissed Christian on the lips.
After staring into one another’s eyes for a few seconds, Christian asked, “Would you like some coffee?”
Vivian shook her head.
“Are you hungry?” Christian asked.
Vivian, beginning to smile, again shook her head.
“What can I do for you this morning?” Christian asked.
“This.” Vivian said.
Christian smiled. “You’re too good to be true.”
“No, I’m not.” Vivian said.
“Why do you say that?” Christian asked.
“Because I am true.” Vivian said. “We are actually lying here together. You aren’t imagining this. This is really happening.”
Christian moved one hand from under his pillow and placed it behind Vivian’s head, pulling her toward him for a deep, sensuous kiss. The feel of her tongue against his caused his blood to surge and made him erect. A fact not lost on Vivian as they both fell asleep naked.
Vivian threw her leg over Christian’s leg as they moved closer to one another. They continued to kiss as his shaft slid between her legs, allowing her clit to run the length of it. That made Vivian very wet as well as making her body shiver. Christian moved his other hand from the back of her head to her ass, firmly gripping it as she began grinding on him.
Taking a brief break from kissing, Vivian asked, “What time do you need to leave?”
After a few more seconds of kissing, he answered, “I… I’m not sure. At some point.”
“That’s not very specific.” Vivian said as they continued to drive one another wild Christian moved from her lips down to her neck, kissing and gently sucking. She then said, “I need you, Christian.”
Temporarily coming up for air, Christian said, “You have me.”
Vivian then placed her hand on Christian’s chest and eased them apart. A panting Christian then said, “What?”
Vivian looked at him for a few seconds before saying, “I need you.”
Christian’s expression grew serious. He nodded. He then moved back from Vivian.
“We don’t have to stop…” Vivian said as Christian grabbed his pillows and placed them under his arm, leaning on his elbow.
His eyes cast down for a few seconds, Christian then said, “You’re right. This isn’t the way we should be doing this.”
Vivian exhaled. “Look, we have known each other for less than two months. Less than that really. I mean this is only the third time we have even seen one another. The day at the grocery store, my party last weekend, and now.”
“Still,” Christian said. “...something is going on between us. And I’m still in a…”
“Yeah.” Vivian said.
The twosome then sat silent for a minute, contemplating the situation. “I’m sorry.” Christian finally said. “I didn’t mean to put you in this situation.”
“I’m pretty sure I started it.” Vivian said.
Christian smiled, thinking about the day he saw her come downstairs in her robe and panties as he laid on her couch relaxing from her massage.
“What?” Vivian asked, staring at him as he was in deep thought.
“I’m glad we met.” Christian said.
Vivian smiled. “Me, too.” She then moved closer to Christian. As she traced her finger up and down the center of his chest, she asked, “So...when do you need to leave?”
Christian leaned forward and kissed Vivian’s lips. He then said, “Depends on what you need me for.”
Vivian then reached between Christian’s legs, cupping his balls. He closed his eyes and inhaled as she ran her fingers up the length of his shaft until she reached his tip. He grew harder in her hand as she began stroking him.
Christian pulled Vivian’s leg back over his leg, positioning them as they were before their mini-discussion. He then slid down until his tip was resting on her clit. He grabbed the lower half of his shaft and began moving it back and forth, massaging her clit with his tip as her eyes rolled backward.
Christian then moved his tip between her wet, wanting lips and slid himself almost halfway inside her. Watching her facial expressions as he worked her body, he asked, “Is this what you need from me.”
“Yes, baby.” Vivian said softly as Christian began to slide in and out of her pussy, making her wetter and wetter.

“Happy anniversary.” Irene said with a big smile as she reached across the restaurant table and handed Christian a white hinged box.
He smiled politely as he took and opened it to find a black dress watch. “Wow.” He said. “This is very nice. Thank you.”
Christian placed the opened box to the side on the table top. He then reached down beside himself on the booth seat and lifted a small white gift bag to give Irene.
She beamed as she took the bag and looked inside. Her smile faded. “A chocolate bar?” She looked at Christian befuddled and not at all pleased. “You got me a chocolate bar for our first anniversary?”
Christian smiled. “Keep looking.” He said.
She reached into the bag for the chocolate bar and found another cloth bag beneath it. She lifted it and looked inside.
“You got me my Oakley sunglasses!” She said loud enough that other patrons in the restaurant turned and looked.
An embarrassed Christian nodded. “Yeah, I remember you telling me how much you wanted a pair.”
Irene quickly moved from her side of the booth to Christians’ and threw her arms around his neck. “Thank you.” She said. You’re the best.” She then kissed him on the lips before returning to her side and trying on her sunglasses.
Christian then felt obliged to also try on his watch, though his guilt meter - due to his relationship with Vivian - was off the charts.
Irene playfully modeled her new glasses for Christian who smiled and said, “Nice.”
He then held up his watch for her to see “That is a nice watch.” Irene said.
Christian nodded. “It is. Thanks again for it.”
Irene nodded, putting her sunglasses back in their cloth case. “Do you think we’ll always get one another great gifts?” Irene asked.
Christian’s eyes grew wide. “Um… I don’t know. Why do you ask?”
“You know,” Irene said. “...because couples are always talking about how the passion goes out of a relationship after the first year.” She then reached across the booth top to hold Christian’s hands. “I don’t want that to happen to us.”
“Yeah.” Christian said as he nodded.
Irene then said, “Especially after we start having kids.”
Christian’s anxiety was beginning to make him dizzy. He was nervous he might be nearing a panic attack. “Kids?” He asked.
“Yeah. Couples always talk about how when kids come into the picture things go south. You know… no sex, no time with one another… stuff like that.”
Christian nodded. He took a long drink of his water. He then said, “You know, we’ve never really talked about marriage and kids before.”
“Yeah. Why? You don’t want kids?” Irene asked.
Christian smiled. “Yeah, kids would be nice… at some point.”
Irene then looked at Christian with a sarcastic glare. “Don’t worry, Chris. You’ll still get to go on your little boys trips like the one you and Doug are taking this weekend. Though I can’t believe you are abandoning me the week of our anniversary.”
“Our anniversary is today, Irene.” Christian said. “We’re leaving Friday for the trip. And Doug planned this trip. Not me.”
“Oh, don’t worry.” Irene said. “I already lit into him about it.”
Christian nodded. “I know. He told me.”
“I don’t think Doug likes me very much.” Irene said.
“Doug is Doug. You have to get used to him.”
“No I don’t.” She said. “He’s your friend. And why does he have to drag you off to Vegas, anyway?”
“He’s not dragging me anywhere.” Christian said. “I want to go. I’m looking forward to it.”
“You’re looking forward to being away from me?” Irene said with a pouty look on her face.
Christian’s shoulders dropped. “I’m looking forward to going to Vegas for the first time and hanging out with Doug. I am sorry it is this weekend.”
Irene nodded. “It’s OK. You need a break. Working at Odyssey has got to be killing your body.”
Christian nodded. “Probably. But I’m still young.”
“Hey, what ever happened with that woman who wanted you to work for her?” Irene asked. “She wanted you to do some contract work for her? Vivian, I think her name was.”
Of course Christian’s chest tightened. “Oh, yeah. I called her. It wasn’t going to work out.”
“Oh. Why not?”
“Hours. Pay. Typical stuff.” Christian said. “So where is our food?” He then asked, looking toward the restaurant’s kitchen.
“Well, maybe you can find another job that won’t be so strenuous.” Irene said.
“Maybe.” Christian said. He took a deep breath and looked at Irene, who smiled at him. I’m not cut out for this he thought to himself as he and Irene’s food arrived.

“How many shows are we going to this weekend?” Christian asked as he sat in the passenger side of Doug’s car and perused the brochures and pamphlets for their weekend trip.
“An MMA fight, a comedy show, and a burlesque review. It’s on the itinerary right there.” Doug said, pointing to the paper containing the information as he drove the two of them on the highway toward Las Vegas.
“Oh, OK. I see it.” Christian said. Looking at the itinerary, he then asked “Separate rooms? Why do we need two rooms?”
“Because I am looking to get laid this weekend, my friend.” Doug said. “I don’t have two women giving it up to me back home.”
“Shut… up.” Christian said, shaking his head as Doug laughed.
“Man, I mean it as a compliment.” Doug said. “You’re my hero.”
“It’s not heroic.” Christian said. “I really need to end things.”
“With who?” Doug said, looking sternly as he awaited Christian’s response.
“I just can’t keep doing this.” Christian said. “I am not a two-woman man. I am very uncomfortable with all of this.”
“End things with who, Chris?” Doug again asked.
Christian glanced at Doug. Christian’s phone then rang. “Nice.” He said, quickly pulling his cell phone from his pocket and looking at the caller ID. He smiled before answering. “Hello.” He said in a deep voice.
“Hi there, sexy.” Vivian answered. “What are you doing right now?”
“Doug and I are on the way to Vegas.”
“Too bad. You could be here making me wet right now.”
“Oh, I can do that from here.” Christian said.
“Wow. I mean, I know you are long and all, but…”
Christian laughed loudly, startling Doug. “Who the hell are you talking to?” Doug asked quietly.
Christian looked at Doug, trying not to smile. “Vivian.”
Doug chuckled. “You’re my fuckin’ hero, man.”
Christian hit Doug in the arm with his elbow before continuing his conversation “Where are you? In the office?”
“Yeah, we have a client coming in a half an hour.” Vivian said. “I had some time to kill.”
“Well, I’m glad you chose to kill it with me.” Christian said.
“I could be killing your dick right now if you were here in my office.” She said.
“Damn.” Christian said. “You can’t talk like that when I’m leaving town.”
“Turn the car around and I’ll give you a reason to stay in town.”
“Um…” Christian said, adjusting in his seat as his erection was growing hard enough to press against his jeans and make him physically uncomfortable.
Vivian then said, “How about I call you when you get to Vegas and we can continue this conversation.”
“That sounds really good. I’ll be looking forward to that call.”
“I know you will.” Vivian said. “So, where are you two staying?”
“The Luxor.”
“Oh, that’s the one shaped like a pyramid, right?” Vivian said. “I loved staying there. It was amazing.”
Christian smiled. “Of course you’ve been to Vegas.”
“What?” Vivian said. “You think guys are the only ones that like to have getaway weekends?”
“Oh, not at all.” Christian said. “I know from experience that you know how to enjoy yourself.”
“I don’t know.” Vivian said. “It seems like you enjoy me more than I do.”
“I really do. Call me tonight and I will give you something to enjoy, too.”
“Oooh… I can’t wait.” Vivian said.
Christian ended the call and put his phone back in his pocket. He could feel Doug glancing at him as he tried to suppress what he assumed was a goofy grin resulting from his conversation with Vivian. He then slowly turned toward Doug.
“End things with who?” Doug again asked.
Christian didn’t answer him.
Doug then asked, “She calls your cell phone? What about if Irene is around?”
“Vivian knew about the trip this weekend.” Christian said. “It’s actually the first time she has ever called me. We usually just email one another.”
“Well, it’s good to see a woman making you smile for a change.” Doug said. “It’s been awhile.”
“Did I show you the watch Irene gave me?” Christian said, holding the watch up for Doug to see.
“Yeah you showed me the damn watch, Chris.” Doug said. “She got you something nice for your anniversary. Great. What about the other 364 days of the year when she is making your ass miserable?”
Christian turned forward in his seat and sat quietly staring at the road.
“What are you, a masochist?” Doug asked. “Is it really that hard a decision to m…”
“YES, DOUG, IT’S REALLY THAT FUCKING HARD!” Christian yelled.
Christian and a startled Doug sat quietly in the car for a couple of minutes. Doug then said, “I just want you to be happy.”
“I know.” Christian said. “I know you do.”
“You do what you want.” Doug said “You’re still my boy. No matter what.”
Christian looked at Doug. “Thanks.”
After a few seconds, Doug then said, “I still think you’re stupid as hell if you dump Vivian, but…”
“I know you do, fucker.” Christian then said, which made both of them laugh.
“Tell you what. Let’s just concentrate on Vegas.” Doug said.
“That sounds fantastic.” Christian said as he returned his attention to their itinerary.

Vivian smiled as she held her cell phone in her hand and stared into the distance. After half a minute or so of daydreaming, Vivian returned to reality. She put her phone on her desk and looked at her laptop screen, continuing her preparations for her pending meeting. Having a hard time concentrating, she looked toward her door to call to Traci for assistance. Traci was standing in the doorway staring at her best friend-slash-boss.
Vivian was visibly startled. “Traci. How long have you been standing there?”
“Long enough to know you will be making a call to Las Vegas tonight.” Traci said.
Vivian dropped her head, shaking it and giggling.
“Girl, I have never seen you like this about a guy. Why are you dragging your feet on this one?” Traci said as Vivian lifted her head wearing a serious expression. “He is fine as hell. Apparently he is some kind of Olympic athlete in bed. And he treats you great. I know he wants you and I know you want him. What’s the problem?”
“Irene.” Vivian said, staring off into space.
“Who?” Traci asked.
“He has a live-in girlfriend named Irene.” Vivian said.
Traci paused for a few seconds. “Well, she can’t be as hot as you, girl.”
“Traci.” Vivian said. “She’s his woman.”
“Well, she must not be setting it off at home because he was all over you at your birthday party.”
Vivian chuckled and shook her head.
“Is he going to leave her?” Traci asked.
Vivian shrugged. “I don’t know. We haven’t talked about it.”
Traci looked incredulous. “Why haven't you?”
Vivian softly shook her head. “We barely know one another. We have seen each other three times.”
“And all three times ended with your panties on his head.” Traci said, as Vivian tried in vain not to laugh out loud “Something is going on between you two.”
“I’m just trying to give him his space.” Vivian said. “I don’t want to act like some desperate woman trying to cling to a man.
“I guess.” Traci said.
“What?” Vivian asked.
“I mean, one of you is going to end up with him.” Traci said. “And he seems like a pretty good catch. I’m not saying act desperate. But, at the same time...all’s fair in love and war. You don’t have to go all out. But I wouldn’t just sit still and wait for something to happen, either.”
Vivian thought for a few moments about Traci’s words. Traci then checked her phone for the time. “We have about five minutes ‘til the meeting.”
“Thanks.” Vivian said. Traci then left for her desk so she could greet their prospective clients. Vivian remained in her office pondering her best friend’s advice.
