The story of a man and a truck.
That Old Blue Truck.

First met Jenny back in seventy-two
I just turned twenty-one an that Pickup was new.
I don't think Jen even looked at me much
but she sure liked that four by four Custom Deluxe.

Saturday nights we'd cruise into town
radio on and the windows rolled down.
We married in April though we didn't have much
but we sure treasured that old blue Pickup truck.

Busy years at the Ranch, time rolled on
three pretty girls and a boy came along.
Many happy rides home, four mad dashes to town
never once that old blue four by four let us down.

Billy's horse spooked an kicked out the lights
I hit the ditch on that wild stormy night.
That old Longhorn bull stove the front in
the bent fender that Jenny said looked like a devilish grin.

Paint all blistered tired an worn
headlight missing, seats all torn.
We traded that old blue Custom Deluxe
on a brand new top-of-the-line Pickup truck.

Somewhere in graveyard for old Pickup trucks
there's a rusty blue four by four Custom Deluxe.
Headlight missing front stove in
the bent fender that Jenny said looked like a devilish grin

Summer nights when the clouds shade the moon
wish I was driving that old Pick-up home.
To turn back the years I'd trade forty new trucks
for that old blue four wheel drive Custom Deluxe.
