War under the Moon

Chapter 1

Lara stood before the Bane Accademy as the moon rose eerily on the horizon. The wind blew lazily around her causing Lara's hair to brush against her cheek. "Ah Miss. Swyft, I see you made it." Came a gravelly voice. Lara looked up at the door way and saw the head mistress standing in the doorway. "You must be Mrs. Wyncroft." Lara said shouldering her bag. Mrs. Wyncroft raised her nose in indignation. "Yes, please follow me." She said and turned on one sharp heel and walked back into the building. Lara watched her for a moment then followed after her.

Once inside Lara followed Mrs. Wyncroft up the staircase to the second floor. "This Accademy is set on four basic rules." Mrs. Wyncroft began. "One: We are Winners, and to be winners one must have pride. Do you have pride, Miss. Swyft?" Mrs.Wyncroft asked looking over her shoulder at Lara. Lara nodded. "Yes ma'am!" Mrs. Wyncroft smiled. "Good, second we do not associate with vampires, if you are caught with one you will be severely punished. Is that understood?" Lara stopped and looked at Mrs. Wyncroft curiously. "None what so ever?" Mrs. Wyncroft stopped and turned fully to look at her. "Is that a problem?" Lara quickly shook her head. "No." Mrs. Wyncroft continued on. "Third, if you spot a Vampire on our land you kill it no hesitation." Lara felt her heart skip a beat at that rule, but said nothing. "And lastly you are to report to your House Leader every evening for attendance. If you don't show you will be punished." Mrs. Wyncroft finished. Lara nodded. "Yes ma'am."

"You're in the Blackwell House." Mrs. Wyncroft said as she stopped in front of a room. "Your roommates name is Zane Carver." Lara looked at the dorm door the number on the door was 23C. "Your House Leaders name is Gabriel Desner. His room is down the hall to the right." Mrs. Wyncroft said as she placed her hand on the doornob. "Thank you Mrs. Wyncroft." Lara said looking at the head mistress. Wyncroft looked at Lara curiously. "Why did you decide to come here?" Lara thought about that for a moment. "It was either this or go live with my grandfather." Wyncroft nodded and opened the dorm door. When she did Lara saw a dark haired guy stretched out on a bed smoking a cigarette. "Carver! Put that cigarette out! I won't tell you again about smoking in the dorms!" Wyncroft snapped. Zane put the cigarette out with a growl and put the butt in an ashtray. "Yes head mistress." Wyncroft motioned for Lara to enter and Lara did and sat her bag on the spare bed. "Carver this is your new roommate Lara Swyft." Wyncroft introduced. "What's up?" Carver said waving to Lara. Lara waved back with a smile. "Nice to meet you to." Wyncroft looked at her watch. "Well Miss. Swyft I have other matters to attend to and I'm sure you want to get settled in, so I'm gonna go. Mr. Carver please show her around would you?" Wyncroft said and left. Lara looked at Zane and smiled nervously.
