Detective Dina's first case
Dina was bored.
Wouldn't any 7 year old be, stuck in the house all day because of rain?
She had tried watching TV and reading her books. She had even bugged her elder sister. She was still bored after a while.
"Mom, can you play cars with me?" Dina asked her mom, who was busy making lunch.
"I'm sorry, honey. How about after lunch?" she replied.
Dina sighed. Her dad was snoring away in the room and her teenage sister was on the phone.
She tried reading her books again and picked up the one about Detective Dan.
That's when it hit her! She could be a detective! She was sure there were things missing in the house that she could find. For a fee, of course.
Dina soon got to work, setting up her office. She dragged her tiny chair and table out to the hallway, and put up a sign on the table that said 'Dina's Detective Agency'. It was a very pretty sign in green and purple. She put on her hat, the sun glasses Uncle Alan had got her for her birthday and her coat. She sat on her chair and waited for her first client to approach.
"What are you doing?" asked her sister after a few minutes, rolling her eyes.
"Trying to be useful, unlike you," Dina said, sticking her tongue out.
"You are never going to get people sitting in our hallway like this. Ever heard of advertising?" her sister asked.
What a wonderful idea! Dina created posters. She made one for each room in their house, and they looked fantastic!

Missing something?
Do not know how to find it?
Call Detective Dina now!
Best Detective in House!
Address – Hallway

While everyone seemed thrilled to have a detective in the house, nobody seemed to be missing anything. Dina still had no customers.
Some time later, however, Mom showed up. Dina offered her a chair, and asked her what happened.
"A few of my ladles are missing, Detective," said Mom, looking very upset. "I need them to finish cooking lunch."
"Don't worry, Ma'am. Detective Dina will find them in no time," said Dina, tipping her hat.
Dina got to work looking for them. She searched high and low, in and out.
Aha!
She found them! And it only took a few minutes!
"Oh, Detective! You're marvelous! Where did you find them?" asked an astonished Mom.
"In the shoe rack," said a very proud Dina, beaming with pride at having solved her first case.
"But how on earth did they even go there?" asked a puzzled Mom.
"That's not important, Mom. What's important is that the case has been solved, and lunch has been saved!" said Dina. "My fee, please."
Mom gave Dina a cookie, happy to pay for such excellent service.
While Dina happily munched on her cookie at her office, her sister showed up and rolled her eyes at her again.
"You're just jealous," said a happy Dina.
"No. I saw you hide the ladles in the shoe rack," said her sister, grinning.
"Shh. Don't tell anyone! I promise I'll solve all your cases for free!" said Dina, turning red.
"Relax, kid. It's a deal," said her sister, laughing and walking away.
And that, is the tale of Dina's first case.
