Goodbye to the ex-boyfriend
Sad, really that it's come to this -
me wanting you gone
Yet, you resist

Eight years came and went
before I had known it -
Always picking up the pieces
from the havoc you'd left behind

Always complaining
You hated it here.
I begged for us to leave
and start anew.
Complacency kept you here.

The last fall-out;
the night you decided for me.
You had to go
Even if you were bluffing.

Now you apologize
but you're still the same.
Started the search for my replacement
even before you were gone.

Although my heart still has a piece with your name on it,
You no longer occupy the whole.

My heart, my love, is soothed and patched by another
Whose promises are kept, and his words are gold.

So my wish to you
is to find another that loves you
And understands you,
To share your (hopefully) happy everafter

It's all I've ever wished for you.
