Dark Dreamscapes Poetry Contest - Round 22 |
** Image ID #2110780 Unavailable ** Death circled, swirling its haze Infecting the earth Poisoning the depths of everything. It captured and took with no remorse Leaving sorrow in its wake Darkness filled the land Charring all that it touched Like the devil incarnate Walking among the living Turning their hearts and minds To dust and rubble. The world was lost... Or so we thought... When a young lad succumbed to the disease That plagued the land He told his lady to rise up and run To leave him to die amid the ruins But she refused to go Instead she stayed by his side Loving him through all the hate That blazed around them like the fires of Hell. He held on to that love Letting it sooth his pain Vanquish his despair And hold him in a place Where the darkness Could not permeate Their love held back death And for a time They lived on Their life a beacon to others Showing the way Brandishing a path Through death's anguish and torment When they did finally slip into the afterlife It was not to the dark demented hands of the devil But to God's loving care Grace had saved them Bound them in a protective glow That rose them up To eternal life In a land of glorious delight Where love blinded out all darkness 43 lines Dark Dreamscapes - Round 22 |
