One man against the whole of modern life. One man for an against the world. |
[Scene begins with a single man standing alone in the middle of a crowded room. Slowly the people trickle out. All that remains is the man. He looks up and begins to sing.] MAN: I am a simple man Simple dreams Simple strings Than any old guy can pull (vague laughter from the shadows) All I have ever wanted was to make something Create something That everyone would know And watch it grow And then let it go [The man holds up his hands and faces away from the audience] But god! Oh god that i have no hope in Oh god that has forsaken me Forgotten Begotten me no miracles worthy of his golden kingdom Well hear of my kingdom! [The mans voice rises] My kingdom of wonder and hope Yet of woe and hatred beyond any scope Hear the screams of joy mix with the screams of anger The peals of bells and the peals of laughter Each hallowed hall and city street Filled with sounds and words and beat Each morning sun told a thousand ways Each forgotten wave Each person of any shape, gender, or size Each equal in the eyes of the masses My masses The masses that tear and rip and hate- [His hands lower and his voice grows soft] The masses that have pillaged and raped The masses born of mass murderers Mass hate Each singular piece of a mass so dastardly yet so common Such blasphemy it would be to ignore them Abhore them Tell them theyre worthless scumbags and that their tone is toneless Boneless Boneless is a man like me That allows himself to be shoved this way and that as if at sea Oh Woe is me. [The stage goes dark] |
